Ordered my first press
« on: September 30, 2003, 09:51:01 AM »
I just ordered a Lee Reloader Press.  It was a package deal with "Modern Reloading".  I know I needed another manual so I figured it wasn't too bad of a deal for ~$30.

I plan to reload for pistols and my .35 Rem.

What are your opinions on this press?  Deal?

BTW try not to be too hard on me...I am just getting into this.
And I know that I need more stuff; caliper, scale, dies, ........

I like Lee equipment.  The Reloader will do for a starter or second press.  I like the way it handles spent primers, but its not too sturdy for long term use.  I think you'll want to step up to something like a Turret press (without auto advance) before long, really handy for pistol dies.  Onece set up you never adjust dies again, just change turrets.  As much as I use Lee tools, I can't recommend the powder scale.  It is too difficult to set up and use; get an RCBS or Lyman.

ghostZ, I used a Lee Challenger press for 14 years. It broke last summer and I ordered a Lyman Crusher press to replace it. I'm not sorry I bought the Lee press. If you decide to buy a cast iron press you will find they resize rifle brass with less effort. Good luck and welcome to the fun world of reloading. Dave

Thanks guys.  Until yesterday I had never even heard of Lee.

One of the books I have right now talkes about using a second press for just a certain operation such as capping.

I figure I will give it a whirl.  If I don't like reloading I am not out too much $.

again thanks for the replies.
