Mini 14 in 6.8 bullet weight
« on: August 21, 2009, 12:58:26 PM »
Has anyone tried 150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip Bullets in the Ruger Mini 14 in 6.8 Rem SPC? Or have any other heavier bullet experience in same rifle?

you might run into trouble with overall length and fitting in the mag.

I searched for the max OAL for a 6.8SPC, and it seems to be 2.315", factory loads may be less.

A quick look around the web seems to bring up load data for 90gr to 115gr.

Hodgdon Powder only lists load data for 90gr to 115gr. http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

You might be trying to shoe-horn in too much bullet, assuming you are looking for fast loads. Assuming the Nosler is a lot longer than a 115gr bullet, if seated properly it will reduce powder capacity, but you may want this if you are after slower or sub-sonic loads.
