Gunstock Inc.
« on: September 09, 2009, 05:51:51 PM »
I was just at Gunstock Inc. I took a stock from my old knight rifle over to see if he could make a new one to fit my 9 year old boy. He said it would be a while, maybe a month or two!! But we talked for a while and I mentioned I shot an encore. He said, well he would give me a throw away shock for my boy to fit my encore. The only thing that was wrong with it, is that it had a chip at the end of the grip!!! He even cut it down to fit him!!! Did I say it was a FREE thumb-hole stock!!! I just wanted to say he is top notch!!! I will be buying a knew encore stock set from him. I had a good time talking to him for several hours!!!! If anybody wants to buy an encore stock or any other stock, this is the guy!!! Hell, my boys were having fun with his wife and she took them to the garden and gave them 4 huge cucumbers to take home!!! I don't know why we don't know each other. He went to school with my dad and he only lives about 10 miles from me!!! But I do have a new friend!!!!

Yes Ed and Ronda are good people. I have been dealing with them for years. Always ready to help. Never met them in person but have talked several times on the phone with both. Feels like they are good neighbors.  ;D

And they are GBO Sponsors, have been for several years now. It's always good to hear positive experiences with our sponsors.

GB - If it helps, that exactly how I found them. Clicked on the banner at the top of the page. A few clicks later and my stocks were ordered.

I've picked up several of their unfinished stocks and have been very pleased both with the stocks and their prices.
Do you speak German? Well I don't speak Spanish so maybe you'd better learn English.

GSI is great to do business with.
I just finished this Ruger 204 with GSI wood and MGM barrel.

I orderd a 209x50 laminate forend from them, nice people to deal with.

Origional I was going to order the stock set from them, but at 80$ for a NIB/"used" Laminate stock set I couldnt pass up the deal.

Do these stocks need fitting to the frame.  I can handle the sanding and finishing but other than that I have no stock making skills.

I have two of them and both were un-finished and fit the frame without any fitting.  I think I might of had to open the barrel channel up a bit with sandpaperand and a dowel rod.  Both of mine were inletted for Contenders but were made to the bigger overall size of the Encore.  The Contender factory stocks are a little to small for my tastes.

I have worked with two complete sets. Both purchased unfinished. The buttstock is inletted to fit the frame and a basic buttstock shape. They leave a lot of wood for you to work with for shaping. The foreends are drilled and counter bored for screws, barrel channel cut but only minimum size. I took my foreends and set them up in my Bridgeport mill and used a ball end mill to cut the barrel channel exactly how I wanted it.
