Looking for a source of 7.62x25mm??
« on: October 02, 2003, 06:13:23 AM »
Does anyone have a source for cheap good 7.62x25mm ammo?  I was shocked by the price of it now at my local gun shop. The guy wants $9.00 a box for surplus ammo steel case non-reloadable  .  I can order S&B and have the brass to reload for just a little more than that.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kirkned:  S&B is the best buy out there these days and you can order it directly from Cheaper than Dirt, and from a couple of other places that advertise in the Shotgun News.

Depending on the pistol you're shooting it from, you need to use some caution with shooting up some of the surplus stuff.  The Austrian or Chech surplus stuff made for either the ppsh41/43 (Russian Submachinegun) or specifically for the CZ-52, might be too hot for the Tokarev pisotl and should definately not be used in an 1896 Broomhandle Mauser.

The Chinese surplus stuff is very poor quality with undersized bullets and extremely hard (submachine gun) primers.

I strictly use the S&B and have since gotten a set of reloading dies and have ordered some of the 90 gn HP Sierra (?) bullets in .308 diameter so see how my Tok shoots with handloads and what they do.  Sorry about ramblin' on - HTH.  Mikey.
