Mrs PJ made a post today that was considerably different that really took place. She directed most of the heat my way. Well, I was replying to her post - hit the submit button and at that time learned that her post was no longer on GBO. Admin had removed it. So, to keep the record straight, I was going to let her post stand on the forum... and here is my reply to it.

Welcome thepbjs. Glad you stopped by to share your views. Hell no I wont wipe your post off - opens the perfect opportunity to set the record straight on what really did happen concerning your PJ.
Just so you will understand where I am coming from: GBO is Graybeards place his home if you will. He has tried to make it a comfortable place where friends can meet to exchange ideas, share experiences, ask questions that get quality answers, ponder and theorize
author or respond to whatever on topic discussion they want to within a forum. For the most part that is how it goes on GBO, and everyone has a great time here. But, problems do exist whenever you toss a bunch of people together from all walks of life, whether it is on a site such as this, or at a Sunday social. So GB set up some rules to try to keep things civilized and organized on GBO, and in tune with his own personal desires and goals for the site. Since he alone shoulders the expense and the lions share of the work to keep it up and running, and since it is, after all, his place, it seems pretty reasonable to me that he has that right. The rest of us are visitors in his home.
Since there are so many varied interests within the membership of this board, GB has set up a very large number of forums so that those with a like interest can find each other, and direct their efforts to get the most exposure with the right crowd for that particular topic. Doing all the Admin and trying to oversee this many forums just became too much for one man to do, so GB decided to solicit help from members to watch over many of the forums for him. He tried to get people who had long experience in the area of interest on the forum that they would be doing, or at least anyone who just wanted to help out.
So what does a moderator do? Mainly, they try to help with questions by offering suggestions from their experience, or to newbies trying to figure out how to use the boards features. But also to check the contents of posts made to the forum for the GBO Admin. What content? To watch out for hackers or attacks to GBO itself or its members; for people not following the house rules; for advertisers placing ads without paying Admin to do so; for trouble makers inciting or provoking flame wars; for off topic posts that belong (and would get better response) in another forum; for solicitation to steal members away from GBO (new one); etc.
I cant speak for the others that have been helping out as moderators, but I can for myself. I more cases than not, I contact Admin about potential problems on a forum, and Admin makes the decisions on what to do about it. Also more often than not, Admin takes the action I do when instructed to do so. Once Admin has established a policy and if the problem is not a major one, I sometimes handle it myself, but in the manner Admin has directed. However, I go a couple of steps further. I contact Admin to advise what has occurred and what, if anything, I have done about. I also PM/email the member involved and politely advise why it was a problem or why it was not allowed. So far I am batting 1000 Admin has always fully supported anything I have done in the mod capacity. Luckily, most members are great about it anyway and it is quickly forgotten. Being a moderator can be a tough job, especially when trying to enforce the guidelines established by the sites owner and at the same time trying to have some fun with what has become some of your Internet friends with a like interest. They pay is zero, and at times all of your limited on-line time is used up handling problems instead of getting to enjoy the board with the rest of the membership. So the synonym for moderator must be sucker for punishment. That said

PJ has been a good contributor to the board, and has obvious experience to share with others. He used to do that often and everyone I think appreciated his input. But of late many of his posts had been rude, insulting and inflammatory towards other members with no just cause. Due to GBO policy, some of these posts were in fact deleted I believe mostly by Admin. He was a topic between Admin and some of the mods that was coming up more and more often. To address your comments on the days just before his account was shut down by Admin (as far as I have knowledge of or had any part in). I know some posts were deleted due to links that were not acceptable to Admin. But the post that I deleted was an off topic post on the TCH forum directed at GB and in an inflammatory way. Was an easy decision for me, it was clearly against the rules and did not belong on this forum no matter what. But, I did PM/email PJ and politely told him that I deleted that post, explained why I had to do it and suggested it should be done via private email or PM to GB himself. Now the key word here is politely. What it got me was a personal email direct from PJ; calling me names with foul language and telling me where to go basically. And to THAT email, I responded by again explaining why and that I was just doing what I was suppose to as the forums mod, that his email did show exactly what a baby he really is, that what GB did or did not do had nothing to do with me, that I was glad to see his account deactivated because trash like him was not needed on GBO, and that if he ever got to Vegas to please look me up and Id show him what men do with problem children. Yes, the last line was personal (and BTW, all correspondence IS backed up so I can prove what was said). I dont need the Internet to hide behind to be a man, and Ill stand accountable for everything I have said or done on GBO.
