209x45 cleaning between shots???
« on: October 02, 2003, 03:23:43 PM »
Is it nessesarry to clean the bore between shots when shooting 777 and sabot/bullets.

Also, I noticed in another thread that most folks do not use a bore brush when they clean their muzzle barrels---whats up?

Thanks

You will likely find it extremely difficult to load and seat the bullet to the same depth if you do not at least do a wet/dry swab between shots.

A bore brush is generally a bit of overkill for between shot swabbing.  Just a spit patch or Windex patch should do what is needed.
WHUT?

The idea is to clean "just enough" to reload the sabot.  You want to have a fouled bore for best accuracy, which is why you shoot off a couple primer caps before loadiing the first round.

I have noticed that it is much more difficult to load a second or third shot without cleaning, but my accuracy is not really affected.  If I have time, I'll swab, but it is not 100% necessary.  I found that the hornady sabot/200gr XTP with 120gr 777 shoots best in mine.
