recently bought a 10 in. 357 herret bbl. for my contender, with brass and dies, and i'm finding that data is a little sparse, so i would love for anyone with some experience to offer some help! (nothing outlandish or super hot, please!)

If you are gonna shoot Contenders you need to invest in the Load Book for Contenders. It's part of the One Load series. It has data for all the various rounds they've been chambered to by the factory over the years. TC used to provide load data for the rounds like the Herrett's as well.
I'm sure you can find the data on the websites of the various powder makers and perhaps the bullet makers. Those are always the best SAFE first places to look for data.

I have the Contender handbook. Just checked and H4227 is listed as the best in 357 Herrett with all bullet weights. Don't really want to list them all. Let me know what bullet weight you want to use and i will give you the load data for it.

The Loadbook for Contenders Volume 2 lists tons of loads for the 357 Herret, including some light plinking loads.
You can find the Contender load books from almost any supplier like Midway, Cabela's, etc. They'll be with the other reloading handbooks. Very good investment if you like Contenders.

I have not tried H4227 but IMR 4227 gives me 1 to 1.5 inch 3 shot 100 yard groups out of my 10 inch scoped Contender barrel with Hornady 158 gr. XTP HP bullets. The load is one or two tenths of a grain over that listed as maximum in the Hornady manual. You will probably need to approach maximum loads to achieve optimal accuracy.
