32 Days of hunting
« on: October 04, 2009, 07:51:03 PM »

Got my first Shiras bull, one of the most enjoyable hunts I have ever done.  Lots of close encounters and great outdoor experiences.   Hunted most of 32 days, got in bow range of several bulls.  Couldn't put it together on the biggest ones that I saw but did manage a nice eating size moose.

One arrow, 20 yard shot.  Bull traveled about 100 yards before he went down.

Silvertp-

Nice bull!  Are you sure the garage rafters will hold the weight??...lol

Larry, the rafters held for long enough.  Did some serious skinning (from a ladder) yesterday and this morning I reduced that critter to a bunch of "moose parts".  Even caped it out for a shoulder mount.

Give me a few days and I'll be eating grilled moose steaks!

Congratulations - nice bull!

I wish I lived close enough to moose country so I could hunt on 32 consecutive days - maybe I should move north.....

I didn't realize that you lived in the west - you seem so normal. ::) ;) ;D ;D ;D
Hunting is Exciting!  Bolt actions are BORING!!
Don't mix the two!

Thanks Rick

Ive lived all over the US, the north and west areas fit my needs the best.  Im looking out my picture window now at the sun peaking over a snow-capped continental divide.  Clean air, lots of public land to explore, 4-seasons and a wealth of wildlife.

Gotta admit the extended hunt really was "living the dream".
