Yugo 8MM Mauser
« on: December 11, 2009, 07:43:31 AM »
I have a chance to get a good one of these with matching #`s.He said the stock is like a washboard but that isn`t unusual for these? It has the sling hole in the stock and full front hood sight so I don`t know if that gives away a year or not. Anyways, the serial # is K51369. Can anyone help with a year for this rifle? I forgot to mention he wants $225 for it.

Thanks-Jack

Sounds like an M48 or M48A. I personally really like them. Mine shoot very well.

$225 sounds a little bit high, but if the bore is excellent it might be worth it.  Stock condition should be pretty good for that price, though.

You'll have to look it over and decide, but to me, $225 is at the absolute top end of pricing, with condition being a price lowering factor to consider.

And there lies my problem. He doesn`t live close to me :( The stock is dinged and scrathed and has some rust on the buttplate and bolt follower. He said he paid more than that for it. Actually, now that I just checked, he wants $250 for it!! Man, why didn`t I just buy a Mitchell`s Mauser back in 2004 when they included everything including the bayonet >:( Now they want alot for them without the accessories and bayonett!!

yeah that price is high for the condition...there are still quite nice  arsenal refinished Yugos out there for a lot less...I think I saw Sarco or SAMCO had them in the recent Shotgun news for $149.00  (it is worth it to get your C&R license, they will ship guns like these right to your door)

A 01 dealer FFL is not practical, but a C&R FFL is easily attainable and only costs $30 for 3 years. Federal background check is done and then you can have these historic rifles shipped to you at reasonable dealer prices.
There are good deals out there, just have to find them.
Sarco, Samco, Aim Surplus, Century Arms International, C&R forums and websites with classifieds sections, SOG, Classic Arms, Allans Armory. Mitchells really are overpriced for what you get.
You'll be amazed at the rifles that will just magically show up at your front door  ;)

No stop, don't do it. Now the kids will go hungry and the dog will have to leave home because you will always be broke.  ;D

What is also great about a C&R is you can send a copy to places like Midway and Brownells etc. and they will give you dealer pricing.

Ummm, and also Shot1 stole my advice......STOP now!  I got my C&R and life went to hell real fast.  I remember my wife (god love her) got me a little gun safe (14 gun) and said she wanted me to lock up all my guns.  That was Fatehrs day....July 4th I was packing stuff and she asked how come I wasn't using my safe??  WEll....the safe was FULL.

Over 50 C&R

Waiting for the truck to bring me my new CZ82 I just ordered. Think it will be the white truck, instead, though.
