scope question
« on: September 22, 2009, 03:37:53 PM »
I bought an old Bushnell Banner 2.5x20 for the 357 barrel.

The erector system is apparently broken.  If I tap the tube then the crosshairs rotate.

BUT, I can turn the windage and the crosshairs move left or right..............uh, how does that work?

Sounds like you bought a broken scope to me. Go to walmart and get a tasco 2.5X20 shotgun scope for about $30 if memory serves me correctly.

LOL
I know that it is broken.

My question is "how can the crosshair be rotating within the tube, but the erector system is still tracking it up/down and left/right?"

It is hosed up, so just unscrew the eyebell and have a look inside, it will be a good science experment, and you may see something or have some part fall out the tube.  I've taken some apart to clean the glass, it is not hard to do at all, remember, the most complex thing the people first put it together did before they made your scope was to run a Water Buffalo.   Larry

LOL

ah, at least this has been good for a few laughs

I was mad earlier

I tried unscrewing the ocular earlier, figured what the heck? its already broken.  Must have a stop to prevent purging the tube, as it screws out but stops at end of tube.  can hear something rattling inside
