Differences in Butt stocks? Picts added
« on: September 20, 2009, 08:49:48 PM »
I bought a butt stock for my Contender 1973 version. Problem is I didn't know the differences. Soo I bought it in hope. Well as luck would have it, it dont fit. Gun goes in, bolt hole lines up, but reciever behind hammer sticks up and there is a big gap behind trigger housing. So How do I figure out which contender it is for?  G2 Encore???

Yes I did a search, came up with all kinds of things refering to stocks, but not the differences.

You identified the options: G2 or Encore.  Without seeing it I know I can't tell you which one it is.  The angle on the grip is different for the G2 (and Encore as well) but the hole in the Encore stock must be larger and that may be why your frame fits as much as it does.

Good luck with this

There has to be a gap behind the trigger housing for the action to work when you open it, and it is quite common for the reciever to stick up a little behind the hammer.  So...if the grip bolt lines up correctly you may have the correct one already. ???

Hello.
From your description if you have a Contender frame the stock is for a G2 Contender.
The G2 Contender, Contender an Encore all have the same angle of the attaching screw lug but the lug is in a different location on the Contender. The lug is in the same place on the Encore and G2 Contender, that is why you can fit an Encore stock to the G2 by using a grip chip. You can also fit an encore to a C2 stock by making the lnletting wider. The Lug is approx. 1/4" further forward on the Contender than on the Encore or G2, thus a contender frame will fit in the G2 stock but will stick up out of the stock to far and there will be a long gap in front of the trigger mechanism. Can you post pictures?

Your pictures indicate the stock is for a G2 contender.
