Joel and others, what kind of bandsaw should I get, do you like the delta X5?

I use a Delta Shopmaster with a 59 1/2 blade. Has a 4 inch clearance which has worked for me the last few years.

well I put off the bandsaw for now, I really need the bandsaw for cutting handles in half (into scales).  there is a mindboggling assortment of bandsaws out there.

so for now I ordered a Kalamazoo 1x42 belt sander.  I ordered some belts and I am pleased that the 1x42's are a whole lot cheaper than the 6x48's.

Also I couldn't sharpen very well on the 6x48

I got the little Kalamazoo 1SM today, assembly was very difficult  (lift out of box  ;D)
I gotta hand it to em right there for that, thats a good start

already had a coarse belt on it, I have a big assortment of grades on order from Klingspor, as well as a leather belt

I'm very impressed, tracking is very easy

the little 1" gets into some tight spots well, and its a quiet little son of a gun

money well spent....can't recommend it enough
