A months vacation
« on: September 27, 2009, 02:54:15 PM »
Tomorrow I start my vacation for a month. Travel in or from Alaska is never as simple as getting in your car and driving somewhere.

Tomorrow afternoon we catch the ferry to Ketchikan where the next morning we can catch another ferry to the airport where we will board the jet to Seattle. Where we will be able to board our direct flight to Atlanta, Ga.

Then we will be able to drive around georgia and florida to visit family and friends. Looking forward to seeing everyone since it's been 4 years since my wife and I have taken a real vacation. Due to her health our trips were for medical the last 4 years. The one thing I do miss about living down south is beeing able to drive someplace. On our island here in Alaska we only have 22 miles of road.

I will be able to get internet service from time to time but not able to check in daily like I do now, so youall stay safe and try not to get in too many fights. See you in a month.

I hope that your vacation is fun and enjoyable and your get your batteries re-charged.
I've a friend in Sitka who always comes back to rest and relax.
Life up there is great but there's something about being in the lower 48 that does a body good.

Many of you guys remember tnn-junk (alan grant). He & I had been corosponding via email for maybe a year before his death. He was a great guy.

Part of the plan was to meet him in north florida while I was down there. The fact that I won't get to do that is the only sad part about this trip. All we can do now is honor him by remembering him.

Well I must finish packing, just had to check in before I left.
