My newest / bestest toy -- for now
« on: September 17, 2009, 01:47:46 PM »
Was at the local club the other night and a guy and his wife were out shooting their Mod. 22A's and I liked the looks of them , long story short -- Just had to stop in the local MC Sports and buy one .  ;D

Now the big ?? what ammo does best in these things , tried the standard Rem , Win and Fed but was having a bunch of stovepipe problems , would something like CCI Stingers do a better job ?

Need input  ;)

For fixing stovepipe malfunctions in a .22 semi auto I would suggest using high-velocity .22 ammo and make sure the gun is cleaned and lubercated good.

Did you tear it down after you bought it and cleaned and lubed it good?

Also, make sure the shooter is not "limp wristing".

Hope it gets fixed!  Them .22's are fun to shoot!

Congrats Stimpy! The 22A is indeed a very nice looking little pistol.

Already thinking scope for this one , the way it shoots with iron sights it ought to be a tack driver with some good glass on it , may just become my new tree rat getter .  ;D

Tried 3 different stores for some more CCI Stingers and no luck , they all said that 22 ammo is getting hard to keep in stock now because people were buying them as the CF ammo ran out .

Stimpy - get on over to MidSouth, Natchez or Cabelas - they all have 22lr now.  And I agree with Phil about using the high speed ammo to, at the least, get your new 22 broken in.  It just sounds like something has to shake out, so to speak, before she smoothes out for you.  Stingers might work but so should any of the full weight high speed loadings.  Make sure it is cleaned and properly lubed and let us know what works best in your new toy.....

Gona have to do something , the rounds that were giving me the most fits were the Fed bulk pac stuff , however those also gave the best groups @ 25 yards .

I may have to take a short road trip to Kremer's and see if I can find a few different rounds to test more before I settle on one for hunting with .

Most know that I'm not a big auto loader fan but there's just something about this little 22 that I like .  ??? so its worth putting some time & effort into .

PS-- It did get the top to bottom once over before I shot it .  ;)

Sounds like good fun for cheap too at least cheaper than the rest of our handguns. I like my Ruger MKII so much it always goes to the range with me now no matter what else I am shooting.

Funny I am dead accurate even at 30 yd. with that gun with open sights, I wish I could do that good with my S&W M66 with open sights.

Mine fits my hand ok , but the problem now is getting the slide back and locked with the scope on it , I have to hold it sort of weird and reach over the scope to pull the slide back .  ???
