First pieces arrived today!

Looks like the much anticipated wait is just about over. The Stock Showed up from Bullberry today. The rest of the rifle is to follow sometime next week. I ordered the stock unfinished, with the plan of staining it very dark, almost black. But just couldn't do that to this hunk of wood. So I grabbed up a can of Natural stain I had in the shop and went after it. Here's a few pics.

I'm liking the knot more and more. Gives it a little character I think. After letting the first coat dry for three hours I applied another. it darkened up a bit more. Probably call it good at that and start applying the Satin clear tomorrow evening. I'll post more pics as it progresses, and range results when I get there too.

I ordered "Utility Grade" wood. So I expected to see worse. I've never been one for "pretty" things. Form and function has always won out over spending time and money for bling. That extra money goes back into form and function or other useful things.

I like the knot more every time I look at it.

 Was gonna Clear it tonight, but it's too humid (100% most of the day). Will take it to work tomorrow and do it in the paint booth where it's closer to 50%.

Also, I got the other email today. My rifle is in the Fedex truck! Scheduled to be at my FFL Monday. Might be shooting some rounds through her by Tuesday, Wed at the latest. I'm a happy man!

Got the rifle today. It's all ready to go to the range tomorrow. Here's a pic of it.

Almost made it on schedule.   Gives you two weeks to get loads dialed in and sighted in before you leave.   Done deal, now make blood with it.   ;)

It acutally delivered on Monday, but my FFL was at lunch. So they brought it back on Tuesday, I was camped out there all morning to make sure he didn't go to lunch before it arrived. But when he called in my background check, they said my file had to be reviewed. What? OK, no rifle Tuesday, I thought. My FFL calls me about 5pm and says he got the call, come get it. Since he's 45 miles away, I waited til Wed. to pick it up.

I didn't get to shoot it today, this dang thing called work got in the way. Last scheduled meeting was at 1pm, had the rifle in the truck with me. As I walked into that meeting I got a phone call scheduling a conference call at 3pm with a GC in New Mexico, and a Customer in Korea. Shoulda heard that conversation!

 Gonna take half the day off tomorrow and go do some testing with it though. Then again on Sunday. I'll post results asap.
