Olympics: I'd like to see Rio get it

I think Rio should host the olympics in 2016. There have been Olympics in the US before. Give the Brazilians a crack at it.

OBAMA, MICHELLE, OPRAH, AND DALY AIN'T GOT NO CLOUT.  CHICAGO WAS ELIMATED IN THE FIRST ROUND OF VOTING.  JAPAN WAS ELIMATED IN THE SECOND ROUND.  RIO HAS A 50/50 CHANCE TO WIN.

Realistically, since 9/11 there have been a lot of hassles for foreign travelers wanting to get into the US. It's a big concern for people organizing big events like the Olympics.  Another factor in the decision may have been weather. The weather around Chicago is unstable during the summer.

Maybe the MOO went over there to tell them who would host it and the IOC threw them out. I would like to think that any way.

I do believe it was a bad move on Obama's part to give the pitch he did.

Either Rio or Madrid would make me happy. They both deserve it. But I still favor Rio.

Yes, it came down to that. But the new events from Chicago were even more horrifying, so the IOC turned Chicago away.

I'm glad Rio won, and not because of some misguided belief in a political gain.  South America has never hosted the Olympics while the US seems to host about one out of every 4.  I also enjoy the cultural aspect of seeing it held in other countries.  Chicago, not so much.  Fine city, but not anything interesting with regard to people or culture. 

I'm more likely to attend in Rio than Chicago.

Obama fails at delivering for his home town corrupt croines of the Chicago democrat political machine. Chicago being $55 billion in debt, could have used the tax revenues and funding. I'm glad, maybe the people of Chicago will wake up and kick out the corrupt Mayor Daily and his cronies. Who the heck would want to go to a city were the school kids beat each other to death with sticks while other tape the action?? Lets not forget the crony that ran the Chicago schools (Duncan) is now running the federal department of education for obama. Now school kids are forced to sing praise songs about obama. What a mess.

Duncan served as the chief executive officer of the Chicago Public Schools, a position to which he was appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley, from June 2001 through December 2008, becoming the longest-serving big-city education superintendent in the country.
