My son's first deer!!
« on: September 26, 2009, 06:06:18 PM »
I've been watching deer in this field for over a week. None of the big bucks I have been watching showed up, but a trophy just the same. He was about 50 yards away and Jimbo made a perfect double lung shot!!! After the shot he ran and I seen him zig zag a bit and I was sure he was hit!! We couldn't find blood at first. But when we did it was easy to follow. He went about 80 yards. I'm not sure who was more excited him or me!!! I couldn't be more proud!!!!!

That's a nice looking deer. I need to get my son out to the range and get him shooting.

Yep we're both very proud!!! I'm not sure who got worked up more!! I let him try the 20ga. this summer but it was a bit too much gun. So we got a stock to fit my encore and loaded it with 50gr of 777 and a 240gr hollow point. At the 50 yards he shot that deer the bullet went clear though!!!

Congratulations, I'm sure you both were pretty excited. Always wondered how far down you could load a muzzleloader and still be effective, I guess I have my answer. Thanks for sharing the photo.
