Malcolm 3x black powder scope
« on: October 20, 2009, 01:09:41 PM »
Has anyone used this type scope on a muzzleloader?  Thinking about mounting one on a TC Renegade.  Here is the link to Cabelas page for this scope:

Thanks, Jim

Well, NICE Scope.
I really love the Renegade,,I have 2.

But IMHO, that's kinda like puttin lipstick on a pig,(it might look better, but it's still got a curly tail!) there are alot of less expensive, better fitting optics for that gun if optics are what you need.

I mean, if you need that kind of magnification, it should be on something that can deliver at that kind of distance. The 1-48 is great,,but,,,,

besides, too look really cool, it should be brass. ;)

Well brpc, I have a 4X Simmons ProDiamond shotgun scope on my Renegade and I really like it.  So do my old bi-focal eyes.

By the way, that ProDiamond is a great scope - clear and bright, great eye relief, tough as nails, plenty of adjustment, and only $39.95.   I bought my first one a couple of years ago and liked it so much I have acquired two more.

I get mine from Natchez - http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=SN567793&CFID=27156615&CFTOKEN=51801640

I also like my Renegade a lot, a switch barrel 54/12GA capper.

...But IMHO, that's kinda like puttin lipstick on a pig,(it might look better, but it's still got a curly tail!)...

Got a real chuckle out of your comparison necchi... and ohhhh sooo true.  ;D

Comes down to personal opinion naturally, so everybody is entiltled to theirs.   Mine is that a short modern scope has no place on a traditional sidelock, period.

I think besides looking better on them, long small tube brass scopes adjusted via the bases are usually considered more PC for the pre Civil War sidelocks than this blued example with turrets would be.   Sure its probably speculation, but I agree with it.

Hawken switch barrel, switch lock set up for competitive & long range shooting.  Green Mountain 36 cal barrel wears a Navy Arms 32.5" brass 4X scope.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Lipstick on a pig?  Well I always thought Miss Piggy was pretty hot!
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.
