Blackhawk sights
« on: July 14, 2009, 04:20:15 PM »
Where can I find a white outline sight blade to fit in my blackhawk  rear sight. My 45 colt sights are getting hard for these 58 year old eyes to see.

Not sure? But you can replace the rear sight with one of these.

I'm pretty sure that Ruger offers just the white outline blade for it's rear sights, and it is not hard to change one out. I know that the rear sights themselves are all the same from GP-100 to Blackhawk, to Single Six for that matter. There may be some differences in the rear blade height, but I think they would be slight. The "Micro Sights" used on the Flattops are different, of course.

I have the old eye problem too. Have you tried a white outline rear sight? For me they make the sight picture worse

I'm pretty sure that 'Ruger sells the white outline rear blades for it's rear sights separately, and for a pretty reasonable price. To the best of my knowledge, they are all the same so you can use one from a GP-100 on a Blackhawk for example. The only thing I'm not positive about is whether or not there might be a slight height difference.

bluecow, did you have to change out the front sight?  I've looked at them several times, think I'm gonna break down and get a couple to try.  I see they make em for rifles as well.  DP

Alot of the Ruger rear sights have the outline they just haven't added the white. ;)  I take a toothpick and use whiteout just wipe off any overlap with cloth no problem. 8)  If you want a colored ramp I apply finger nail polish.  It can be removed easily if I later change my mind or decide to sell/trade. ;D
