It depends on how big the objective is on your scope and whether or not you want to keep the rear sight installed. The Rossi pictured in my avitar is a Trivecta with the .243 barrel and a Bushnell Banner 3X9-40 with medium CZ rings. I still have the rear sight installed, so if I wanted to move the scope further back I'd have to remove the rear sight or get taller rings. You could probably go with lower rings but then you would have a clearance problem with the hammer. The Trivecta comes with one of those offset devices you can screw onto the hammer, but with the raised cheek piece I really don't see the need for a lower ring and thus the hammer device. Up to you though. Whatever makes you comfortable. To try things out you might want to get a cheap low and medium ring set, say from Sports Authority for less than $10 each, and see which one you like the best. Then you can buy a better set later if you feel the need.
