I'm headed to the range tomorrow to check rifles. Got the rifles out and poked the bores and dusted the scopes. Got the ammo out. hum only 13 rounds of .308 Norma Mag in the field box. Got more out in the ammo boxes. Went out to the shop and got the storage boxes and look found the big box and opened it...nothing but empty brass. No prob! Load some more. Went to the old computer with all the loading records in it. No .308 Norma Mag loads listed. Hummm some more! Looked up in the bookcase and there is my old hand written logs. Looked up the .308 Norma Mag and there's my load data. Last time I loaded this cartridge was 091389. 20 years ago? Check the big box and that's the date on the label. Must be shooting rapid fire to go through 87 rounds in 20 years!!
Went out to the powder boxes and looked around for some IMR4350, found a can I paid $14.99 for IT when ever I bought. Shake the can and wonder how much powder is in there. Run it through the powder measure and get 23 cases filled before I run out. Bullets, bullets--back to the storage boxes....one box of Sierra 165 BTSP...box feels light---7 bullets. 7 and 13 make 20, commercial box full. I'm ready now. Off to the range tomorrow...I will set up the big target and check sights right away at 250 yards. With luck the gun will hit where I aim. Shouldn't be a problem...that gun has never had to be adjusted since, well 1989.
I optimistic, I mean, I am going hunting aren't I!!!!
