Food plot wheat
« on: October 06, 2009, 11:36:18 AM »
I planted a couple small food plots last weekend in winter wheat.  Will I have a decent stand by youth season or am I too late.  It was hand broadcast over ground worked up with an old allis chisel plow, then then drug with a old set of bed springs.  Thoughts?

If it gets enough rain, and sun you should have wheat. I have always heard that if you plant it after the first frost it will last the winter. But we plant ours early enough to hunt it when bowseason opens, so i cant testify to that. But on average within two weeks we usually have wheat sprouting.
