Love my Rossi .223

A few weeks ago I purchased a .223 Rossi, walnut stock, blued. Placed a 3x9x40 Tasco on top and I couldn't be happier. Buddy of mine worked up a good load, 40 grain Nosler Ballistic tip and 15.6 grains of 5744 (barrel has a 1:12 twist). Accuracy was excellent, and for me personally I recommend them. Looking to buy another very soon, just trying to decide on the caliber:

.308
30/06
7.62x39

I'm no expert, this is just my personal opinion. But I would go with the 30-06 or .308. Just to have a small and a large cal.

I also just purchased a Rossi .223 and could only get a four inch group at 100 yards tried evertyhing from 45 grain to 60 grain bullets even changed scopes. I finally contacted Rossi and they told me a 3- 4 inch group was acceptable at 100 yards. I brought it to the pawn shop and purchased Weatherby.

I too was a little less than pleased with the accuracy I got with my 223 barrel.  It patterned instead of grouped.  I tryed every powder I had in it and could take a TC Encore in 223 and make a nice MOA group down the middle of that Pattern.  I'm glad you got a good one, and have someone that found a good load for it.  They are pretty cool little guns, but you often get what you pay for.
