Is it just me or are there other people out there suspicious of Snopes.com
when it comes to B.O. It seems to me that the vast majority of their dribble
about Barrak Hugo Adolf Stalin Huessien Obama always attempts to paint a
picture of him as being pure as the driven snow. In my opinion these people
are in the tank for him. What say you guys?

Snopes is nothing but a husband and wife team who search the internet no differently than you can do for yourself and then give their personal opinon on matters. Clearly they are rather liberal types and their "facts" reflect that bias.

IMO:  Snopes is a good organization.  I do a lot of online research and have never found them to be wrong.  Their decisions are in line with other organizations of their type.  There are people out there who would rather make up lies, distort the facts and whine instead of going after Obama and the Democrats on the issues.  There are lots of legitimate issues we can use to go after the far lefters.

Snopes isn't an organization. It is a husband/wife team who make their money selling advertising I assume on their site due to the hits it gets. They are no more or less honest in their evaluation of their internet research than any one else searching and commenting on stories.

I've seen many references to it claiming it to be a good source. I completely disagree. It is a low grade source of information that should be utterly disregarded. While usually factually true, it almost always misses the point of the issue at hand.

The results of many of the items that I have personally researched were mostly dead on with those posted by Snopes.  I won’t say all of their finding are totally accurate, but in their defense, they do a fairly good job of dispelling e-rumors and presenting the truth.

You're right of course, and those who make that type of stuff up are generally the ones complaining about Snopes.  We get these ridiculous "stories" posted around here about once a week where some old lady mows down a burglar and then makes some cute quote afterwards.  You can tell from the story that it's fake but the poster always really wants it to be true.  A quick trip to snopes always reveals it to be fake, then the poster always attacks Snopes because he so badly wants his fake post to be real.

Actual discussion on the issues requires reading and understanding, calling names and making things up is much easier.

I gotta agree with dukkillr on this one.  However Snopes is organized, they've generally very thorough in their research and for the most part seem to publish and unbiased view of a subject.  Some people will take sides in an argument and regardless of the *truth*, will condemn or praise anything that denounces or upholds their side of the argument, respectively.  Just because a fact may be inconvenient for one's position does not make it biased.

Everone knows that all the garbage chain emails that you get are completely true......don't they?  I mean hey it was on the internet...right?  I trust Snopes for the most part.

OH NOES. SOMEONE ON TEH INTERWEBS CALLED ME A LIBERAL!!?!?! I BETTER CHANGE MY POSITION QUICK ELSE THEY THINK IT'S TRUE!

</Sarcasm off>

Name calling didn't make me change my mind when I was a kid.  Certainly not gonna make a difference now.  People wonder why we're losing ground in national polls and elections.  When the response to a debate where one side tries to be reasonable is "Well, um, you're a liberal if you don't agree with me!" then the group as a whole is discredited.

+1

Obama is a blithering idiot just like Wya Bush was a blithering idiot.  For the life of me I cannot understand why folks cannot just go after Obama on the issues.  But the real issues do not matter to some folks, so they have to distort the facts and make up lies to spread all over the internet.  Watched that far out nut case Orly Taitz on TV last night.  It is obvious that she is a pathological liar:  No make that a congenital liar.   Hundreds of thousands, maybe low millions, of folks believe her forged Obama birth certificate and all the rest of her lies.

Didn't seem to hurt the dem's when they were comparing Bush to Hitler, Stalin, etc., or claiming that he blew up the WTC, the dykes in New Orleans, etc.   Now, maybe I missed it, but I don't seem to remember you or alsaqr, or dukkiller, or crusty having much to say about that.  ::)

:D My liberal pal always is quoting the Snopes.. I always felt the name was quite fitting.... :D I maybe wrong, but it seems when I was reading William Faulkner in college, he had a family in his novels named the Snopes..... :o In Faulkner's novels the Snopes family was poor white trash that lived in Miss. They were the lowest class in his southern society.... They would  do anything to get ahead in life. Lie, cheat, steal, they were a family without morals or standards...  >:( To me the name fits perfectly..... ;D :D ;)
