I use what it takes to trap the bvr.  ALot of times im called in when trappers have wised up bvrs to bodygrips and castor also... so then its snares, footholds and sometimes bodygrips depending upon the situation...  each situation has differant  problems and thus differant methods.

I'm with RdFx, but my favorite is blind setting beaver with snares. I like to read the sign and set where the beaver wants to go anyway. I always use a few foot hold traps and some castor though just to keep it interesting.

I love to use #4-5 double longsprings on slide wires at lured and/or baited sets. I'll take a tile spade, and cut out a semi circle at either a natural feeding spot as evidenced by shallow water and peeled sticks, or make my own. lure the bank, add some peeled sticks, take the spade and push up a ridge between the trap and deep water-

my favorite can't miss set- once beaver are out, punch in a hole, add coon lure and Bobs your uncle you got a perfect coon set up.....trappnman

fav trap CDR on a 12ft adj drowner  setting in front of a castor mound with Master castor. Mound master1 or dobbins backbreaker are always along for the ride. these 3 ya can depend on with confidence.wont ever pass the chance to put a 330 in the same spot if water is deep enough to cover the trap.
