Lefty looking for Suggestions

I would like to get start in Traditional BP(50-54 cal.) and being a lefty I'm looking for suggestions as to what type of percussion type Hawken firearms are available. Also for us that are getting a little long in the tooth,have you found a certain type of open sight to be better than another. Thanks for all suggestions--1Longbow

That said, there are many, many nice guns out there, depending on what you want to spend.  Doo a little searching, and you'll be amazed at what is out there for us lefties.

I belive that gun is made by Traditions for Cabelas. I belive that because it looks exatly like my lefty hawken made by Traditions.

I would take a close look at that rifle, I am very pleased with mine.

I think the Cabela's Hawken's are made by Investarms of Italy.  Lyman's Great Plains rifle is also made by Investarms.  I'm not sure where Traditions have their traditional muzzleloaders made.  My CVA St Louis Hawken was made in Spain.  Tompson Center states their muzzleloaders are made in the USA.

i'm so left-handed i can't hardly pick my nose right-handed. that said, i shot right-hand renegades and my brother's lyman great plains for years. i wore shooting or sunglasses to prevent flying debris. finally got a renegade lefty and it stung just as bad. if you feel you must have a lefty, lyman offers great plains and their deer hunter both in left-hand. most retailers charge a bit more for them. good luck and good shootin', bubba.

This is correct. I have this rifle and it is an Investarms. Great rifle and I thank my wife for it every time I shoot it!

I'm like bubba as far as being so left handed it's almost a handycap.  I have both left and right hand cap and flint rifles and have shot them for years.  I don't notice any differance in how they shoot.  The only ill effect I've ever had is that once in a while the right hand cap gun will deflect some blow-back down onto my right arm.

The Lyman Great Plains Rifle used to be pretty good.  I really couldn't tell now though.

I'm right handed but shoot lefty due to some nerve damage in my right eye. I tried RH caplocks but didn't like the debris being blown in my face. A few years back I broke down and bought a LH Lyman Plains rifle and I love the darn thing! It came with the best looking walnut stock I've seen on a factory rifle and is a lot more accurate than I am.

1Longbow, I picked up a used T/C New Englander last weekend pretty cheap.  I think it's 50 caliber as opposed to 54.  Haven't had a chance to look it over yet, but I'll either trade it off or sell it since I shoot right handed.  PM to let me know if you're interested.  Thanks, nseries
