Forgot my camera and my cell phone was dead, But, I took my newly pieced together Huntsman out this weekend and shot a nice six pointer Saturday morning right after daylight, He was only thirty feet away, One shot to the head, Game over. The feller didn't have a clue I was there, I had only been in my stand about ten minutes. Handy functioned flawlessly and put one right where I aimed.
BTW my huntin buddy got a really nice doe today (Sunday) we had a very nice weekend. Good friends and good hunting, Good times.

Why would you head shoot a deer?

If I can get it and all is right I will take a head shot anytime, have and will continue to.
Nothing wrong with it.
Some don't like it but as stated, no tracking, no wasted meat and dead before they hit the ground.

Nice shooting
Put me in the same club . I too will take a head shot over a body shot everytime for all the same reasons already mentioned. It works today as well as it has for the past 46 years.

I shot one in the head from about 25' with a 12 ga. slug once. My buddy got sick when he saw the result. I didn't lose anything edible and the deer didn't know the difference.
I will take a head or spine shot anytime I feel it's a sure thing. No need tracking if you don't have to.

The brains ,hide and guts are about the only part of a deer we don't eat. Head shot's
take all the fun of tracking a non-dead deer. 26-t

Hey fellas Thanks for the positive responses, It was a great weekend.
I normally don't like head shots because I don't like to miss, BUT, At thirty feet with a deer who don't have a clue I am there, Yep I'll do it again. Heck I always hunt squirrel with a .22 rifle or pistol and I only take head shots on them out to 50 yards (with a rifle I aint that good with a six shooter
). If a feller can do that he outta be able to shoot a deer inside of 25.

Way to go Bob. I take head shots whenever I can. It makes field dressing and processing a heck of a lot easier.

Depends on the circumstances, like in your case, I too would take the head shot. I've taken head shots on a few Moose. Every time they went down right there, no tracking, no seeing them run into the brush or water. Bang, Flop.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.'
