barrel/frame Q
« on: October 19, 2009, 09:21:28 AM »
From the FAQ:  "Rifle barrels other than 357mag and 44 mag cannot be put a shotgun frame since the shotgun frame is not heat treated to handle the pressure. "

Yet on the H&R site, they say only shotgun/ml on a shotgun frame.   ???

Will they put a 44mag. on a shotgun frame?  If so, is there still a cut-off year and any dif between a 410,20 and 12 frame?

They'll fit the 357 and 44mag barrels to SB1 shotgun frames made since 1987, they have never updated the acc barrel page to indicate this change since they started fitting them, but they've been selling both rifles on SB1 frames since early 2008. They'e been out of stock on both barrels for a while, so it's kind of a moot point right now anyway, but they're supposed to be making more.  :-\

That's interesting. What would be the slimmest forend to put on a 44 barrel? (I'm thinking youth gun)

All forends are the same with the exception of some of the shotgun forends if you're concerned about the barrel channel, the old style synthetic forend has the smallest profile, current production wood forends are all identical.
