Schuetzen Handi The next toy
« on: October 22, 2009, 12:42:27 AM »
The 45/70 barrel is fitted on the new receiver now, and the 12ga FH is well on it's way on one of the slug guns...so it's time to get to the next project.. Last night while I was in the shop fitting the barrel, I looked at a Schuetzen blank I'd roughed out and had just sat for years waiting for something to put it on. I had made a DeHaas receiver and put a 22 Hornet barrel on it for the Schuetzen , but I have trouble getting worked up over mouse guns....so it just sat.

I had planned to sell it but now I think it would go perfectly on a Handi.

The second slug gun would be perfect for it, and the barrel is plenty big to use a full size barrel blank wtih the the original as a monoblock.
Ed Hubel has corrupted me with some of his insane cartridges, so I think this one would be made to order for another of them. The 499 HE is looking mighty tempting but Ed was looking for a .58 handi barrel and since I have a 58 blank I haven't milled the flats on yet, I may see what he has in mind for that.
