How is everyone's hunting going?

   Hey, Mark. I got the one doe a few weeks ago with the crossbow and am taking a break until probably later in November. I will be hunting quite a bit in December. We're trying to find a new house and that takes up a lot of weekend time. Due to recent rains, the deer aren't moving that much since they have so much natural browse. I expect it to be much better hunting this year in Marble Falls later in the season. How about you?

This has been the slowest season in years for me.  During archery season I only saw 2 deer and would not take a chancey shot with the X-bow.  Since gun season opened I had a young spike trot in and stop 5 ' from the base of my ladder stand.  He would have been a slam dunk, except that he was young and couldn't be the buck making all the rubs in those woods.  At our place in the hills, (picture) we've seen a boat load of does, and even some New Zeland Billies down in the canyons, but we haven't fired a shot yet.  Maybe this weekend coming up.  It is too long a drive to come back empty handed again.  We hope the weather cools and the deer start moving.
