Any Washington state trappers here, Tell me what traps are legal  (beaver).  The regs  don't tell very much, and I'm new at this.

I don't trap but it seems to me there is a pamphlet at their office, this is the only thing I found online.

Barber, contact your local conservation officer, he is the one that should be able to tell you what can be used.

I don't think we have such a thing as conservation officers, I've lived here for all my life, never heard of one, that's probably another title for a game warden or WDFW officer. Trapping is regulated by the WDFW, If they don't help ya much,  check with the Washington State Trappers Association.

Tim, every state gives them a different title. Her in MN . they are C.O.'s,wisconsin they are game wardens. 50 states probably 5o different titles. But they enforce the laws whatever they are called,so they should have the answers.

The guy from the Game Dept, in Olympia WA,, returned my call this morning, (I was gone), told my wife  only live traps are legal here.  Just thought I'd throw that in.  Sounds  like BS  me, but if I knew anything, I wouldn't be asking questions.  So what is a live trap?

Barber, cage traps are considered live traps. Cable restaints and some types of snares may also be considered--live traps.BUT you will have to get specific answers from your state. Footholds on land are also considered a live trap--but here again, get the specifics from the horses mouth.
 Good Luck,
