Off-set hammer spur and screw sources
« on: October 30, 2009, 09:43:12 AM »
I've long since lost the hammer spur and screw that can with my H&R.  I tried the one from carlson, it doesn't fit the hammer very well at all.  I called H&R, they want $12.50 plus $10 s&h, seems awful steep.

Is there anybody else carrying these?  Anyone have one they want to sell?

Thanks :)

Uncle Mike's make them, I see them hanging on the shelf from time to time.  Larry

Any good sporting goods store will have the Uncle Mikes. I bought one at Green Tops Last night. Bass Pro has them too. $8.95 (which I thought was a little pricey)

The factory hammer extension is made by Uncle Mike's it's listed in the FAQs, sells for $8, it's the same as the Ruger Black Hawk's.

Even on my 22 Hornet the spur kept coming loose, so I had to use blue Locktite. Problem solved.

Somehow, the leverage using such a small Allen (hex, Inbus, zeta, or Unbrako) wrench never felt right to me. I think a T-handle wrench would work best to get the right kind of torque if you don't want to Locktite it.
