Recently I posted some comments about my dissatisfaction with a 50th Anniversary .44 Mag. Blackhawk. Returned it, got half the problems fixed, etc etc.
However, since then I've had occasion to order 2 different 4 5/8" stainless Single-Sixes from 2 different dealers on Gunbroker (thought it might take 2 to get a good one). That model is a special one, only run from time to time, and not usually catalogued. I've thought about trying to get one for several years, but didn't.
Both new guns came in this last 10 days. The first to arrive had the finest fitted highly figured, with burl, grips I've ever seen on a Ruger single action from the factory, in more than 46 years of buying them. The metal to metal fit and metal polish is as good as any of my FA PG's. Despite the fact that I have had the flu and now have pneumonia, I had to shoot a few rounds on paper at 50', and it shoots very good, with the sights nicely regulated (not too high or low, not too far off to the side).
The second arrived 2 days later and also has very highly figured grips, not as perfectly fitted as the first, but a good enough Ruger fit. The metal to metal fit and polish is also FA PG quality. Haven't shot it yet, too darned sick and tired.
These may make me feel all warm and fuzzy.
