Omega laminated stock

I purchased a laminated stock for my omega earlier in the year and after mounting it I just put it back in the safe. Well I got the gun out a couple weeks ago and the stock looks to be warped/twisted from the grip back, it looks fine from the grip forward. The barrel channel seems to fit perfect and there dosen't seem to be any stress on the barrel anywhere, but I can't get this thing to shoot groups no matter what now and before replacing the stock this gun would shoot 1 1/4" @ 100yds. Here are some pics tell me what you think.

The stock definately has some cant from the grip back but I doubt that has anything to do with loss of accuracy. I would check mounting in the stock and be sure that the barrel channel is floated forward of the front mount. Be careful when tightening the mounting screws to do the same each time and at the same torque. Most set the rear screw first then tighten the front. My Omega with a plastic stock is very touchy about mounting and the accuracy can go from great to bad with just those changes.

With the lug screw just touching the wood, does the barrell have any side to side play?  My Omega X7 had about .035" from one side to the other, had to screw them in gorilla tight and then only got so-so groups.  Had the stock bedded and she tightened right up.  Who is the stock from?  I think I'd try to get them to make it right before using it too much!  If it's from T/C, they'll make it right.

That is the way the thumbhole stocks are made, they are not warped. follow the lamination lines back from the center, your line will end up on the left side of the recoil pad, that built in cant is what makes them fit so nice. I have a thumbhole on my H&R Sidekick, it is built the exact same way.

I don't thin your inaccuracy problems are coming from the canted stock, but rather from the way it mounts up to the barrel. A bedding job may be in order for best accuracy.

I'd be more worried about that bent barrel! Just kidding. The shadow in the pic makes it look that way. If it shot well before, at least bed the lugs, and I am sure it will again.

The accuracy problem was from plastic fouling in the barrel, there was alot I cleaned the barrel for almost 2hrs to get all the plastic out. I have always just cleaned until patches came out clean, but now I know that it needs special attention to get the plastic out. Took it out this weekend and 3 shot groups were right around 7/8" with the laminated stock, im happy again.

I talked to T/C about the stock appearing to be warped and having a twist and they say that this is normal and nothing is wrong with it. After talking to Boyd's they confirmed this also, but made it clear that they DO NOT build stocks for T/C and they DO NOT use this offcenter design in thier stocks and that every thumbhole they build recoil pad is on center with action. Im not sure if I can get used to the bent rifle look even if it shoots good and may start looking for a non thumbhole laminate stock.

Boyd's is givin you a BIG LINE, both of my Boyd's thumbhole stocks are cast off just like your omega stock. The center line of the stock comes right back to the left side of the recoil pad. THEIR FULL OF IT!

The fit and feel is perfect and it shoots good, but it just looks like my rifle is bent.
