Barrel band

How come some of the 336's have a barrel band around the stock and mag tube and some don't?

the 336 deluxe only has it around the mag tube.

The 336 XLR doesn't have one around either.

What are the pro's and con's of these?  Is there an accuracy improvement without?

That's the way the Marlin design dept configured the various models.

 None.  Each type will appeal, or not, to different purchasers.
