20 ga for Turkey

I have the opportunity to purchase a semiauto Franchi with fantastic looking walnut stock (really nice!) for cheap ($550). However, i only want to have and keep one shotgun. This one really feels good to my hands and shoulders really nice for me. It's also about the right size for my turkey blind (26" barrel, anything longer than that is too long).
Would 20 ga. 3" shells work for hunting turkeys - with full choke? I have hunted ducks before with 20 ga., but not turkeys, with any gauge.

Do i must have 12 ga. for turkeys?

I've killed turkeys with both, all inside of 35yds. You'll need to pattern check to see which kind or shot size work the best in your shotgun / choke combo. My 20 Mossberg has a xxfull Colonial choke that works well with #5s.

If I was down to one shotgun though, it'd be a 12. Shell choice is a lot better. Just my opinion...

 With todays loads like hevi shot the 20ga will do just fine. Do your homework and try different chokes and loads. I have killed several birds with my 20ga most of the birds inside of 20yds. 35 yards is the max even with a 3inch shell but with the right choke and load it will perform at that range.

That combo would work fine for turkeys.
