Where would I find a brass (or other materials) bore protector for cleaning a side lock as to not to ruin the front of the barrel--Thanks 1Longbow

For disposable ones, plastic straws or paper tubes of appropriate diameter work. A few wraps of tape around the end keeps them from sliding into the bore.

I use a flare nut I picked up at the hardware store years ago. I think it is a 3/8", I may have drilled it out a tad to accomodate the ramrod. As I say, I have had this in my shooting bag for many years. Actually seldom use it, though.

Get a 45-70 empty brass, drill out the primer pocket end for your rammer, the rim will keep it from going down a 50 cal. Cheap and works good.. Les
