Match results Saturday November 7
« on: November 09, 2009, 10:34:14 AM »
Anyone else doing any shooting?  Let us know the results.

Saturday morning was chilly with light wind.  We shot the Smallbore Cowboy Rifle Match first.  It started at about10:15 am. I started on Turkeys again.  I got 8.  Next was Rams and I got 8 of them too.  I then shot 9 chickens and 10 pigs for a total of 35/40.  I am a master in this and this is just bearly a master score.  I won the match.

After lunch we started the Cowboy Rifle Match.  The wind picked up and was gusting about 15 mph from the left.  I started on Rams and got 6 of them.  I then went to chickens and killed all 10 of them.  Pigs were a problem, which I hate to admit because I usually clean them, but I only got 8.  Then I embarressed myself with 6 turkeys.  The match winner shot 34-40 and I shot 30-40.  One other shooter shot a 30-40 like me so we were tied for first AAA.  He got 8 turkeys and I got 6 and we went on turkey count instead of a shootoff for 1st AAA.  That made me 2ed AAA.  It is still a AAA score but I usually do better, even in the wind.

Now I have a question that I hope some of you will have a good answer for me.  We have one guy who shoots with us who only has one leg.  We let him shoot sitting on a stool with his upper body unsupported.  I go along with this but I was just wondering if anyone else has a problem like this and how you handle it?  Also if you know the rules, what do they say?  The reason I brought this up is in the Saturday match there was another guy who was complaining about his leg and asked if he could shoot sitting down also.  We agreed to let him so he shot the match sitting down on a chair with a back.  I was watching him and he was leaning back, bracing himself real hard against the wind.  He got a pretty good score and beat alot of people who were standing up fighting the wind.  The "sit down guy" then started bragging about how this was the best score he has ever shot and how he beat people who usually beat the crap out of him.  There was some murmering going on after the match which "sit down" ignored and kept on bragging.  How does the rest of the world handle this?  I'd like to know.

You can only hit the target if the barrel is pointed in the right direction when the bullet leaves the barrel.

Rule 13.1 states that to shoot from a special position or to use special equipment the shooter must first petition the NRA Protest Committee and supply pictures of the shooting position to be used and documentation of the disability, if not obvious. If approved the committe will issue a special authorization certificate, with pictures of shooting position and equipment attached, which must be presented to the match director.
