17/30 carbine is back and looks to be correct.
« on: October 31, 2003, 03:55:06 PM »
i have a feeling it is going to draw its share of blood.
17/30 carbine(pee wee)got here today, fitted it to the stock and headed to the rifle range, just got it sighted in and had to quit.
the chamber is .035 longer than the cases formed with the die down against the shell holder. 5.0 gr's of bullseye and cornmeal fixed that problem.
the first load tested was 13.4 gr of AA1680 with 20 gr bullet produced 3670 fps as a starting load.
first group was at 35 yds and pretty much went thru the same hole.

20 gr vmax in front of 14.2 gr's ofAA 1680 @ 3861 fps. the load is very mild, top load fired today was 4068. this did not look to be a max load. oh! group was fireforming brass, shooting of harris bipods and using the hood of the truck for a bench
