Failure out of the box.
« on: December 25, 2009, 01:50:16 PM »
Brand new C9 has bad barrel. Major tooling marks in bore. Bullets strike target 1 to 2 feet below POA @ 7 yards away. Most bullets do not hit my 18"x 24" target but hit randomly on the 4 foot x 4 foot backer. Tried 3 brands of ammunition. No difference. Greatly dissapointed. My .40 S/W Hi Point pistol and .40 S/W Hi Point carbine have been excellent. My .40 S/W Hi Point is actually more accurate than my .45 ACP Springfield XD.

Sounds like you got a bad egg that slipped through quality control....it happens, even with the higher dollar guns.

Since you bought it new I'd take it back to the dealer you bought it from, explain the problem and see if he's willing to replace it or refund your money.  If not, you can send it to Hi Point and they'll make the necessary repairs free of charge and most likely send you a free magazine/clip.

Dealer will not exchange. Says to ship back to MKS. Since I live in IL shipping a handgun is troublesome to say the least. UPS does NOT want it in the building (not a 'store' but an actual UPS shipping depot). I believe it is against FED law to ship via USPS. I tried calling MKS but got put on hold. I waited on hold 15 minutes and gave up. I'll have to try again after the holidays.

I also live in Illinois and your right, shipping a firearm back to the manufactor via a private carrier is a very troublesome task.

The dealer SHOULD ship it back at no charge to you. At the very least he should do it at his cost with no fees for the effort. If he will not then I'd never buy from him again. Since it's such a hassle there for you to ship I'd for sure get a dealer to do it for me as they can ship USPS Priority which is pretty cheap compared to UPS or FEDEX.

I have no clue how Hi Point is on customer service but perhaps once you reach them you can convince them to send you a call tag for either FEDEX or UPS and have them come pick it up at your home.

Thanks for the info Bill.  I didn't know FEDEX or UPS would pick up a parcel for delivery at your home.  I'd never heard of a "call tag," before.
