I've used reflex sights on rifles, and didn't care for the way they stood proud and suseptible to taking bumps/damage.
Plus - JMO - although about the same height as a scope, because they have virtually no length, comparatively-speaking, they looked fragile & out-of-place.

Have you tried the illuminated fiber-optic sights, like Williams FireSights, Hi-Viz, T/C, or TruGlo's ?

I've put them on every rifle I won that has iron sights, and think they work wonderfully.
FO front sights are available in different sizes, just like 'normal" gold or ivory beads - a 1/16"/fine bead size, and a 3/32'/coarse size, and in either red or green colors.
Front/rear sets usually comprise, but not always, different colors between front/rear - so to make it easy to distinguish between them.

I have several Burris Fastfire sights, which are a mini reflex sight.  Waterproof, fully adjustable, long battery life.  Great sight for the money, in a nice compact size.  The dot is 4 inch, and the sight is rated at 1000 G's.  The attached pic is of one mounted on the top scope ring of my AR-15.  I have the other mounted on a .45 auto.  They come with different mounting bases depending on the gun you have.  I believe they make a model for a .22's groved reciever.  OK, enough plugging Burris, I just like the sight...
