Burnishing a 410 barrel
« on: November 19, 2009, 04:36:19 PM »
I have been reading about better pattern results after burnishing the barrel. Can someone explain the details of doing this for me.

what I do is take a wooden dowel, pretty thin one.  I notch the dowel at the end and wrap some very fine steel wool on the end.

I then put the dowel into a drill and run it up and down the barrel till its very very shiny.

good luck

so you do the full length lf the barrel not just the last inch? what about the breech area?  On my gun it looks like there may be a small bur were the sight was drilled, will the wool clean that or should I touch it up with emery cloth before a polish.

You could use a bore swab with polishing compound on it too.
