209x50 Encore Handgun starting point.
« on: December 19, 2002, 12:35:58 PM »
Just bought "another"  encore....too good a deal not to.

I just wanted the muzzle loader 15 inch barrel with forend.  Used it was 175.  good price for this spotless  100% barrel.   The dealer made the price 299 for frame and all!   This gun is used but in pristine new condition.   (how does this sound?  I am rehearsing for my wife...will she believe that I could not pass it up?)

But seriously, what should I use for propellant?  Do I use rifle or pistol powder?  I have a 777 load for my encore 209 x 50 long rifle, should I cut this by 30% and start with this?

Has anybody got this gun to shoot?  Will you share your load info?

Very excited about another hunting handgun.

This makes three Encore frames for me.  I might consider selling frame,  what is it worth with stock and standard handgun forend?  There is not a single mark on it, completly new looking, with 54 ounce trigger.

Thanks for any help.

Fred. :excuseme:

:D HAPPYHUNTER.   Yup,you gots a good deal from what I can see.  Im not so sure about cutting your longrifle load by 30% cause I dont know what it was you were shooting out of it to begin with.  I would load 2f,I have not used any of the triple 7 loads cause I only use the HOLY BLACK,as Marsh would say.  With a 15 inch barrell I would say that you gots yourself a short rifle, but,I would start with about 80 of 2f and kinda go from there.,that would give ya plenty of ooomf fer deer size critters.  Let me know how ya come out.  Good luck.   King.  Also work on yer story a little bit more for the wife.  Kinda make out about how much money you will be saving, and how much yer back aint gunna hurt to carry yer new toy.  Someplace work in there that the money that ya saved you can now use to buy her a new whateveryawannacallit she always wanted.  It worked fer me fer a lotta years.. :-D  :-D  :-D
THE ONLY FEMALE THAT I TRUST IS A LABRADOR.......AND SHE DONT SNOORE,AND DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT MY COOKING...THE ONLY GODS THAT EXIST ARE THOSE THAT HAVE ONE IN THE CHAMBER,AND 19 IN THE MAG.......

New gun?  What new gun?  Naw, I've had that one for years.  It is one of my Encores I haven't been shooting while I was working up loads for my long barrel one.  You've seen me shoot that one before....

(Hint:  The more guns you have, the easier it is to hide a new one amongst them.)
