Dubai's Debt Woes Felt Globally
« on: November 27, 2009, 01:47:18 AM »
This is gonna shake the world....just the start of a global downward spiral. Let the Demcorats get this healthcare and other policies thru and you better load your guns.

Our nation is on the edge and with just a little more pushing it will be over.

This should make everyone here see that obama and his administration does not have one single clue what to do.

Redtail, probably the same article. Also read where the Japanesse financial administrator is worried about the yen falling. Yep, by July or August of next year, ought to be real interesting. Think I'ld better order those non hybrid seeds now, and plan on putting up a hog pen in the back. gypsyman

So Dubai is running out of other people's money a little bit before we do.

TM7, Include also:

Clarity in Coorporate ownership. All coorporate ownership should be public knowledge wheather public coorporations or private coorporations. Remove the veil of secrecy that allows the alliances that control business and government. eddiegjr

I'd rather have the crooks as businessmen than politicians (yes I know the lines blur sometimes)

think about russia, in a totalitarian state the people who want perks/power/prestige join up with the dominant political party, military or police.  over here people can get those same ends through a different means.  it's the regulation of capitalism that makes the corporations so malign.  a lot of big corporations derive power from protectionist policies (think about the railroads and energy sectors, hospitals make lots of money from government programs too- yes hospitals are oftentimes privately owned)

what we need to do is have a separation of business and state like church and state (they can cross the imaginary line but they can get burnt for it too)

so they can just cover-up the next terrorist attack or sabotage a refinery and blame it on iran to keep the us public from seeing that they don't have a thing against our enemies- and are funneling money to their nuclear campaign?

or that they are a soft target that might go down and end up an unproductive investment, with the oil-fields wide open with the US military and political machine explicitly banned from moving in to occupy/leech

GET SPECIFIC!  please, there are so many ways to interpret that

as the world runs low on oil, russia, us and saudi arabia get into it..... super

US is quite a large piece of real-estate, Russia is huge, and all three have LOTS of oil.... while saudi arabia doesn't have an imposing military, it does fund a good portion of the politics in the ME so I hope it DOESN'T hit the fan in Iran

speaking of, the red shields and us haven't done a thing yet to iran... waiting for a "trigger" so they can go, waiting for someone in the whitehouse to say "that's the crisis we can't let go to waste"?

Heck, its only a $60-70 billion payment they can't make, maybe Buffet will lend them the dough.  I bet Bernake and Geitner could print up a batch of greenbacks to tide them over. ;D

Hermit:

its not that payment as much as what it may signal about other payments in other emerging markets..thats the fear. it could start another cascade of monetary events around the world.

Dubai really wants to establish itself as the finacial center of the world and in course of that aim they want to be recognized as a nuetral in any conflict sorta like the swiss.i got news for them they can not avoid a conflict with radical muslims as the very reason for them doing as they do is what osama and his ilk claim to hate so much.

also, never doubt that the flow of oil to the U.S. is a very serious national security issue. never doubt that not only will we fight for it, we must.

that much I agree with... I don't condone imperialism but if it's gonna happen then I want to be the one with an insulated house and sewage disposal/toilets/toilet paper, a shower and all that other good stuff

gasoline runs motor-vehicles and that's what america uses for getting freight from the railways, it gets the planes up and flying, it gets the tractors going to harvest our food, it gets us to work-- and it allows us to be independent of mass/public transportation and government interference on a greater level

if obama is so worried about cap and trade then why doesn't he go after nascar instead of american businesses and citizens gasing their cars?
why doesn't he just take a train around the nation instead of air force one?
how about taking away welfare bums driver's licenses- they don't drive to work.
school buses should be shut down- kids can skip pe and walk to school

the crap that is going on has nothing to do with environmental impact, it's all us little people tapping into the dwindling energy pool

remember that those guys in the east are sultans and such... you know they don't care much about saudis let alone US residents
they're "sheep herders" in another sense too  :-X

Monday will be a real intresting day for us that pay a bit of attention to the financial markets. I'm more concerned with metal prices because if they drop it will be a great time to load the boat up as much as you can afford. Duabi was a major player in gold so they may drop a lot into the market driving prices down for a short while. both gold and silver dropped a bit friday but were starting back up when the market closed.Closing at noon on the friday after turkey day is normal opperation. Big players will be back in monday and we will find out how much exposure our market had over there.
