I have a chance to buy a nib Winchester Model 52 .22LR.  This is the late, limited run of that old classic.  Any one have any experience with this limited run copy?  Input greatly appreciated.

taxmiser,

In my opinion one of if not the best .22 bolt action rifle ever made.  Period.  Lawdog

......I have one of the Browning marked versions and had one of the WInchester marked ones.......I regret trading the Winchester one off and will never get rid of the Browning one.....it shoots great and fuctions perfect...magazines are available thru Brownells for 10$ or less and they are unmarked but look identical to the supplied one and work fine......I also have a "real" 52C custom that I compared to the repos and for the money the repos are fantastic.....mine has a tight chamber that engraves the bullet on loading and it shoots clean ...both the barrel and residue from chamber blow back......both Burris and LEuopld make bases for them along with others....the Burris base extends foreward and requires a extended front ring to move the ring back for compact type scopes.....and the Leupold base fits the front ring over the mounting holes for a more rearward mount position...I have a 3-9EFR Leupold compact on mine and as all rimfires they have their likes and dislikes in ammo but the repo does real well with bulk Winchester Dynapoints and even better with the high dollar real target stuff...Lapua,Eley and Fed UM1............the bolt handle copies the original and requires the scope be mounted higher than just to clear the barrel as the ocular lens tube gets hit by the bolt handle if some scopes are mounted low as they can to clear the barrel....Leupolds mount/scope chart is wrong in ring height due to the bolt hitting but the scope fitting the barrel clearance........you won't regret getting the gun if it is anything like the 4 or 5 I have had or have friends that have them........good luck and good shooting!!!!
