PF9 shoots 8" low at 10 yds, how do I fix it?
« on: December 04, 2009, 11:02:03 AM »
I have a PF9 that is shooting around 8" low at 10 yds with the FMJ stuff that I've been trying.  The front sight is already pretty short so that's not an option.  Anyone have this problem, what's the best way to deal with it on this pistol.  The rear doesn't appear to have any elevation adjustment. I only tried the 110 FMJ in Remington and UMC so far and they are similar.
Thanks

Try other ammo until you find one that shoots close enough to POA. If that doesn't work after trying several different ammo types contact Kel-Tec about it. They are quite good at working with folks who own their guns to fix problems. I doubt there is anything you can do to it yourself to alter the POI other than using different ammo.

As Bill suggested, if it doesn't shoot right with other ammo, contact K-T and they'll send you the shims for the rear sight. Mine shoots good  with the Rem UMC and Fed American Eagle 115gr FMJ.

The rear sight is a new design and is adjustable for windage with the supplied allen wrench as well as for elevation with the use of shims (not included).

I only had one Kel-Tec that shot a little low but not like your speaking of with your pistol. Graybeard told you true, try some different ammo first off and see how that does for you. Now also try shooting that pistol from a rest, just to make sure you are not causing the problem.

I saw where a fellow at our gunclub had to shim a Kel-Tec P-11 model and it is no big deal to do so

Yeah, what's this donation business? How much and does the POPE get any of this money or any political party? :-*

Kel tec uses shims under the rear sight to adjust elevation on the PF9. Should be easy to fix your problem with some shim stock.

Sights are adjustable for a reason. Shim it, drift it, shoot it.

What I did was simply change my sight picture.  I now hold the front
sight over the target instead of under it. ( my p3AT )

That's about all you can do with a P3AT if you insist on using the sights. I can make solid torso hits out to 15yds or so point shooting. That's good enough for me. The PF9 actually has usable sights.
