T-7 Question
« on: October 31, 2003, 03:44:47 AM »
I was at my local outfitter and while I was checking out the salesperson ringing up my purchases told me he had better luck with the T-7 pellets than the Pyrodex pellets I was about to purchase. Then three other guys in line told me the same thing and they wouldn't waste their money on the Pyrodex! So we went back and looked at the T-7 and it says on the box it burns cleaner and all that other jazz.

I am going to shoot my Encore 209x50 this weekend for the first time and I don't want to have any problems sighting in my gun as next Saturday is opening day for firearms in Indiana and I plan to hunt with my new gun! I have seen other posts where people swear against the T-7 and others where they swear by it. Can you tell me what I need to look for when cleaning my gun so that I can decide for myself? I will be shooting Hornady 245's with 100 gr of T-7 (2 pellets)! Hope this wasn't a bad choice! Thanks for you help! Brian :?  :?  :?

Hey Brian!  Glad to see another Hoosier Encore Shooter on here!     I guess I'm in the same boat you're in as I have recently bought some Triple 7 Pellets and loose powder for this season.  I will be sighting in my rifle with Triple 7 and 260 grain Dead Centers soon too, so I'm interested in the replies as well.  From what I've heard, we've both made good choices on the powder.  Hope we're right!

By the way, what part of the state are you from?  I'm just across the river from Louisville, KY.  Should have good luck w/ deer down here this year!

I just came back from the range with my new encore 209x50. I was getting great groups using 90grs 777 and PR 235 gr QT bullets. I found it neccessary to swab with a spit patch after each shot to avoid bulidup.

Unless I am wrong, you need to check the regulations.  I think gun season in Indiana opens on the 15th which is not next Saturday.

Good luck at Atterbury, it has been packed on the weekends, get there right at 8 in the morning and you might be okay.  I was there Thursday, love going during the week, no crowd.

Yes, season opens on the 15th.  I used to shoot at Atterbury all the time when I was in the Guard.  Shot for the State Rifle Team.  In fact, I'm headed down to Oak Ridge, TN this weekend with a bunch of them for a match.  Maybe I'll get to bring my Encore w/ me and shoot it at 200yds.  Good luck!  Maybe I'll run into you sometime.
