sb1 45-70 or 158 45-70
« on: November 25, 2009, 02:38:12 PM »
the old 158's could be got in 30-30. If my calculations are correct the 30-30 would have more back thrust than trapdoor level 45-70. The sb1 is considered as strong or stronger than the old 158 frames. If one only shot black powder or stayed at trapdoor level loads should't these be safe in a shotgun frame(sb1) and in a model 158 frame?
thanks for your comments. Don.

I'm not an authority by any means, some of the Handi brains will chime in later, but I have just one consideration.  What happens if the gun leaves your posession and someone else decides to try some Buffalo Bore or other hot ammo?  Just something to think about.

I've shot alot of trapdoor loads through my 45-70 on a Pardner frame.  ;) Would I shoot any Ruger loads through it??  NO
Use some common sense and you'll be fine.
