Anyone had luck hunting yet............?
« on: November 09, 2009, 02:01:46 PM »
Hello from McBean !

Deer season has been in almost 2 months now, and have not heard much. Let's hear about the whompus buck that you got (or let get away) and any other meat deers you have taken. I shot a nice 6 point with no brow tines, and have passed on several small bucks so far. The one I shot was taken with a new to me rifle on its first trip out. Now, my streak is still alive, with this being the 27th consecutive year that I have gotten a deer during hunting season. Now, let's hear your progress so far. Thanks, and have a great day.

Dave

Hey Dave!  Thanks for bringing it up!  I was going to myself, just haven't gotten around to it.   :-[

So far I've got an 8 pt an a 6 pt with a Handi in 38-55 and Uberti M73 in 45 Colt respectively.  Passed a lot of does and fawns and am paying for it now, haven't seen a deer, other then on camara, for the last 2 weekends.   :(  I want a doe and at least one fawn to add to the freezer, but it doesn't look like any leg of Bambi for Thanksgiving this year...

From our trail cam pics we know there are plenty around, but it looks like they have gone almost completely nocternal.  And we STILL haven't seen any rut sign that would keep them moving  :-\

Oh well, I'm done 'till after Thanksgiving...  :'(

Not to bad this year. I have taking two. The first was an old buck that walked out across the field while I was loading the blind back into the truck. Shot him at around 180 yards. The next deer, a Doe, was the best. I had my 8 year old daughter with me. I got to to quite down around 5:45 pm and not 5 minutes later we had a nice Doe on the food plot in front of us.  Wham, bang, thank you mam, I put her down. My daughter was ready to jump out of the blind to see the deer. The next evening I took her again, this time we had 3 Does in front of me not 15 feet away. However, before I could take a shot, my daughter un zipped the side window and they spook. But it was still a good time. Attached are some pictures, my Buck and my Daughter with the Doe.
Everyone has a game plan, until they get punched in the mouth.

Live everyday as if it is your last!  Because someday you will be right.
