scope mounts for Remington 580
« on: October 19, 2003, 01:42:38 PM »
I have a single-shot bolt action .22 Remington model 580 that I'd like to put a scope on, but it isn't tapped for bases, but appears to have integral mounts, kind of like a Ruger.  What rings would fit these mounts, and please don't tell 3/4" rings!

If the mounts your refering to are the grooves on top the receiver then there are a myriad of rings available.  These are refered to as 'tip-off mounts' and consist of parallel 3/8 inch width grooves.  Most manufactures have rings that fit in these grooves and most carry several sizes including the 1 inch.  I prefer the weaver tip-off mounts as they are strong, reasonably priced and light weight..  These type mounts should be readily available at your local gunshop or WalMart..
